Common Nintendo Switch repairs in Portland.

Display

Screen Replacement

Cracked screen, dead pixels, backlight issues, touch not responding. Screen replacement is one of the most common Switch repairs — and one that requires the right tools and parts to do properly.

Charging

Charging Port Repair

Won't charge, loose USB-C port, intermittent connection. The Switch USB-C port takes a lot of abuse — we replace it properly so it charges reliably again.

Board Level

Charge IC Repair

Won't charge even with a new port. The charge IC is a board-level component — this is the repair that separates shops that actually do electronics work from the ones that just swap parts.

Battery

Battery Replacement

Won't hold a charge, drains too fast, swollen battery. Switch batteries degrade over time — a replacement brings it back to full life.

Liquid Damage

Water & Liquid Damage

Dropped it in water or spilled something on it. Don't turn it on — bring it in immediately. We clean the board and repair at the component level.

Controller

Joy-Con Repair

Stick drift, broken buttons, rail issues, charging contacts. We fix Joy-Cons too — though for stick drift alone, replacement Joy-Cons are often the more cost-effective option and we'll tell you straight.

Power

Won't Turn On

Dead Switch, no response, won't boot past the Nintendo logo. Could be a drained battery, a failed power IC, or a board-level fault. We diagnose before we replace anything.

Dock

Dock & TV Mode Issues

Switch won't output to TV, dock not charging, HDMI not working. Could be the dock itself or the Switch's video output circuitry — we diagnose which one before touching anything.

Common questions.

Almost always yes. Our Portland SE 96th Ave shop does Switch screen replacements regularly — it costs significantly less than a new console. The Switch OLED screen costs a bit more to replace due to the OLED panel, but it's still well worth it compared to replacement cost.
If a new cable doesn't fix it, the issue is almost always either the charging port itself or the charge IC on the motherboard. The charge IC is a board-level component that most shops can't repair — we can. Bring it in and we'll diagnose which one it is.
Honestly, for stick drift alone — new Joy-Cons are often the more cost-effective option and we'll tell you that straight. We do repair Joy-Cons, but if the only issue is drift we'll give you an honest comparison so you can make the right call.
At our Portland shop, screen replacements and charging ports are usually done in 1–2 business days. Charge IC and board-level work takes 2–4 days. Liquid damage depends on what we find — we'll give you a realistic timeline when we diagnose it.
Don't turn it on — that's the most important thing. Bring it straight to our Portland SE 96th Ave location. Powering it up after liquid exposure causes short circuits that create the real damage. Bring it in as soon as possible. The sooner we can clean and inspect the board, the better the outcome.
This can be the dock itself, the HDMI cable, or the Switch's video output circuitry. We test the dock and the console separately to figure out which one is the problem before recommending any repair.
At our Portland shop, "can't fix" is rarely the right question. It's more about whether it makes sense to fix. We're always transparent about what's wrong and what it'll cost. 90% of the time it's still cheaper to fix than replace. But if it genuinely doesn't make financial sense, we'll tell you straight and work with you to figure out the best path. We never leave you without a solution.
No appointment needed — walk in to our Portland SE 96th Ave location any day we're open and we'll take a look. You can also start a repair request online if you'd prefer to give us the details ahead of time.
